Emily was born and raised in Southeast Louisiana, where the azaleas and magnolias bloom in abundance, but cut flower gardens are hard to come by. Throughout her college years in Louisiana, she experimented with growing cut flowers in her spare time. After earning a degree in climatology and moving to the Pacific Northwest amidst a global pandemic, Emily decided an office job was not for her and dove headfirst into her passion for growing things, taking advantage of the temperate climate of her new home. She founded Thorncrest Rose Farm to provide a supply of fragrant, old fashioned garden roses to designers without the harsh pesticides and carbon footprint of imported roses.
Practices
Thorncrest Rose Farm uses only OMRI listed products when necessary. Emily prides herself on creating a safe habitat for pollinators and wildlife. Since Thorncrest is a family farm with small children, using safe methods to control disease and pest pressure is incredibly important to Emily.
